New exhibition puts focus on Aboriginal art
A DYNAMIC, vibrant collection of new works by some of WA’s finest Aboriginal artists – both established names and up-and-coming talent – will be featured in the Moorditj Mob exhibition which opens at the Kidogo Arthouse Gallery this Thursday.
Indigenous entertainment and bush food will be a part of the event to be launched by Fremantle Mayor Peter Tagliaferri at the Mews Road venue starting 6pm.
Works in the Moorditj Mob exhibition reflect on the diversity of Aboriginal contemporary art well-known exhibitors include: Sharyn Egan, Peter Farmer, Francine Kickett, Rod Collard and Phil Dougherty among others.
Many of these have had the chance to refine their techniques with some perspective and guidance from artists such as Lance Chadd, Joanna Robertson, Ian De Souza, Philippa Nikulinsky, Dr Paul Green-Armytage, Chris Gosfield and Eva Fernandez.
The exhibition closes Tuesday, June 30.
